Chapter History
Captain Robert Abernethy Chapter is unique in that all
nineteen organizing members are the Captain's direct descendents.
He was a member from July to October 1776 of the expedition
commanded by General Rutherford against Cherokee Indians. In
Civil Service, he was a member of the Provincial Congress for
Tryon County (now Lincoln County) North Carolina, which convened
at Halifax in 1776 to form our Constitution.
