2020-2022 ASDAR State Historian
The main goal of the Office of the State Historian is historic preservation. This officer is available to help chapters and members with questions concerning this area.
This officer shall promote the study of American history and historical research and she shall award the ASDAR Outstanding Teacher of American History at the State Conference. She will keep a record of historical and commemorative work done in the state. She has the responsibility to send a report of each State conference for publication in the Daughters newsletter. She shall also keep a record of all State Officers, past and present, and the National Officers from the state.
There are four award programs for chapters to use to honor outstanding citizens who have contributed to the study and promotion of American history: Outstanding Teacher of American History contest, DAR History Award Medal, NSDAR Excellence in American History Book Award, and NSDAR Excellence in American History Children’s Book Award.
The officer provides help to the chapter for the approval process to mark graves of Revolutionary War patriots/soldiers, their spouses, and daughters with DAR approved markers.
This officer oversees the management of the ASDAR record storage. Through a local professional records management company for storage of official records of the state and disbanded chapters and to assist chapters in the storage of their records
