Welcome to the Lovely Purchase Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, chartered in Bella Vista, Arkansas!
Lovely Purchase Chapter was named for Major William Lovely, a veteran of the Continental Army of the Revolution. In 1813, he was dispatched from Tennessee where he was Assistant to the United States Agent to the Cherokees. In 1816, he persuaded the Osage Indians to give up over three million acres of their land to the Cherokees. The area included most of Northwest Arkansas, of which present day Bella Vista is a part. It became known as Lovely Purchase.
The Chapter’s organizing meeting was held on April 9, 1984, with fifteen members. The chapter was confirmed on Oct 9, 1984, with nineteen charter members. The Organizing Regent was Mrs. Wayne Packer.
The Lovely Purchase Chapter meets on the second Monday of the month, September through June, excluding January. New members are welcome.
