Since the founding of DAR in 1890, members have worked consistently to promote historic preservation, patriotism and educational ideals in communities across this nation and in overseas chapters. To help shine a spotlight on the DAR service organization mission, Arkansas members are encouraged to perform and record their volunteer service hours and efforts. Through Service to America we hope to document the DAR’s widespread impact in our Arkansas communities.
The Service to America initiative encourages members to become involved in community service to discover the rewards of being a volunteer, and to help make their local communities a better and friendlier place. Arkansas State Society members are giving back to their communities in appreciation for the nation they love!
Arkansas Society DAR members donate supplies and create Christmas gift boxes to veterans at the local VA hospitals, make care packages for troops stationed overseas, clean up local parks and cemeteries, among many other service activities.
